In conjunction with the exhibition "Eiko Ishioka: Can Design Survive?
The exhibition will be held in conjunction with the exhibition "Can Design Survive? More than 30 record jackets designed by Eiko Ishioka will be laid out on the walls of Cignitta, allowing visitors to enjoy the creation of "music" and "graphics".
In addition, a talk event will be held with Mr. Koichi Kawajiri, editor and writer of "TIMELESS: Eiko Ishioka and Her Times", who supervised the exhibition "Eiko Ishioka: Can Design Survive? After the talk event, a social event and book signing will be held. (Fee required)
This exhibition will reexamine the work of the legendary art director with a focus on "music. Please enjoy this exhibition together with the retrospective exhibition in Kyoto.
"Eiko Ishioka's Record Jacket Design

Eiko Ishioka was a person who absorbed music as if it were air. Her love for jazz and its king, Miles Davis, was particularly strong, and she attended his first concert in Japan in 1964. It seems to me that he may have learned from Miles the creative mindset that strives for continuous "self-improvement" in the midst of changing times. It seems to me that he may have learned his creative mind, which seeks to continue "self-improvement" in a changing age, from Miles.
This special exhibition, held in conjunction with the "Eiko Ishioka Exhibition" at the Kyoto DDD Gallery, focuses on Eiko's record artwork and features over 30 pieces of extremely rare artwork.
Visitors will be able to see not only "Miles Davis Story" (1975), which marked the first meeting between Miles and Eiko, and the Grammy Award-winning "Tutu" (1986), but also a series of works for the legendary Japanese jazz label East Wind.
Here is another "session" of Eiko Ishioka with musicians. Looking at the visuals, which still radiate enthusiasm, one can almost hear the "sound of the times" that were so hot.
