Gota Nishidera
Born in Tokyo in 1973 and raised in Kyoto. He made his debut in 1997 as the singer and main songwriter of the band NONA REEVES, which he formed while a student at Waseda University. Since then, he has been involved in many productions as a music producer and songwriter for Shonen-tai, SMAP, V6, YUKI, Masayuki Suzuki, Yasuyuki Okamura, Shiritsu Ebisu Chugaku, Akiko Wada, and others. At the same time, he has been active as an inheritor of 80's music, appearing on TV and radio, and writing serial articles for magazines. He has written official liner notes for Michael Jackson, Prince, and many of the books he has written have become bestsellers. He currently hosts a podcast on Amazon Music, "Gota Saidera's Best! Fan Club" which is available every Wednesday.
In 2021, as a painter, Gota Nishidera attracted a great deal of attention when he held his first solo exhibition "Funkvisions 2021" in Tokyo, Osaka, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Hakodate, and Kyoto, with colorful paintings of pop stars and soul legends he has loved since his childhood.
The tagline for his new series is "Watch the Music. Now that many people listen to music only through Bluetooth or smartphones, Nishidera, who has an endless love for 80's culture and started his own career as a musician in the 90's, has created a series of "treasured items," "furniture," and "sidekicks" that he has been longing for. The new series will uniquely depict stereos, Discman, etc., as "the Amplifiers, tuners, turntables, open reels, speakers, and boomboxes will be displayed in the store of the imaginary brand "Funkvision Audio" and sold as "paintings. In the spring of 2022, chignitta will launch his fresh idea of allowing visitors to assemble their own "eternal audio component".
New artworks will be exhibited and sold at the venue, as well as giclee prints and original merchandise. On weekends, the artist himself will be in the gallery, giving a gallery talk about his works, and a DJ party is also planned.
