The world of Mameko.

Cignitta will be holding a solo exhibition by popular illustrator Maeda Mameko from August 10th. Influenced by the dance she learned since childhood, Maeda Mameko has an interest in using her body to express herself, and creates works featuring plump figures. She also exhibited at the 2022 Metasequoia Kyomachibori Art Fair, where her open and body-positive style attracted a lot of attention. At this solo exhibition, she will be presenting new works that are even more free and relaxed.

Opening Gallery Talk: Saturday, August 10th, from 4pm

Maeda Mameko in LA will connect with the venue online to greet everyone and explain the works.

Closing party: Saturday, August 17th from 4pm.

The artist will be present all day on the 17th and 18th.

When I close my eyes, I am in a state of chaos where real memories and dream images are mixed together. This state of consciousness, chaotic and free of rules, is strongly connected to the body images I draw. I created this work by picking up images from that state. I hope you will also pay attention to the changes in the material that emerged from this theme.

●Profile

Maeda Mameko

Born in Tokyo in 1993, she began working as an illustrator and artist in 2020. Influenced by the dance she learned from an early age, she became interested in expressing herself using her body, and draws plump figures that focus on the beauty of the tension and wrinkles that arise from the expansion and contraction of the body. Her humorous depictions of open-minded characters have led to a surge in offers from overseas. She is expanding her activities globally, including an exhibition at an art fair in Korea.
