Minori's solo exhibition "Connect, Open, Flicker" will be held from June 15th (Sat) to 23rd (Sun)

From Saturday, June 15th, Cignitta will be hosting "Connect, Open, Flicker", a solo exhibition by Tokyo-based artist Minori.

Since her days as a student at Tokyo University of the Arts, Minori has been creating works based on the concept of "points and lines." Lines overlap one another and become "layers," which create shapes. The shapes seen through curtains or windows are like imagined landscapes, as if peeking into someone else's world.

Minori, who is active in exhibitions such as FACE and ART TAIPEI, will hold his first solo exhibition in Osaka since establishing this style. A gallery talk will be held at the opening, Saturday, June 15th from 3pm. We will hear about Minori's production, attitude and thoughts towards his work. Please get to know the artist Minori and come and see the exhibition.

Artist Statement

The points are everywhere.

They sometimes come close to each other, overlap,

Connecting and going far away,

Drawing all kinds of lines like child's play.

The lines born from the points can at some point become words, boundaries,

Sometimes they spin little stories.

Before you know it, a place that was nothing has become someone else's place.

It's like a place that was someone's place has become a place that is nothing.

Every day, in a world that is constantly changing, we connect and undo the dots.

I engage in careful dialogue until something emerges.

I incorporate the concept of "points and lines" into my work.

The dual nature of the act of drawing a line itself,

I am attempting to express the various phenomena that result from this.

Lines distinguish and organize things, and at the same time, they divide things.

It connects the dots and creates shapes.

Lines are an element that brings about some kind of causal relationship to various phenomena,

They tell a story over time.

It's as if threads are swaying and spinning all over the world.

And as it cuts, stretches, and bends,

The space and events that are composed of

It is certainly alive in our everyday lives.

The stories they weave will eventually transcend the boundaries of the canvas,

Each dot connects into a line.
