How about a profile painting of you or someone you love? We are pleased to present the first solo exhibition in Osaka by artist Misato Oka, who meets people and draws their profiles while traveling.
Misato Oka
Born in Tokyo. Completed the printmaking laboratory at Tama Art University. Profile portraits are his life's work, and he has drawn 2,000 profiles to date. He has won acclaim for his clear concept and pop touch. This project started in Tokyo and traveled to Fukuoka, Hokkaido, Kyoto, Kobe, Aichi, and other cities. As an essayist, his essays on the theme of "exploration of art and architecture" are also popular.

Popular artist Misato Oka, who has painted 2,000 profile self-portraits while traveling to Kobe, Fukuoka, Nagoya, Kyoto, and Sapporo, starting with BEAMS in Daikanyama, Tokyo, will finally hold her first solo exhibition in Osaka. In the season of fresh green, pop, bright and comfortable colors of her paintings will fill the space of Chignitta Space. The exhibition will feature paintings of children and adults in profile, as well as watercolor and acrylic paintings newly painted for this solo exhibition.
Oka always focuses on the left-facing profile. It is said that the left half of the face reveals a calm or honest side. In Eastern thought, time is said to flow from right to left, based on the idea that "to go from right to left is to go toward the future. The process of creating a work of art begins when she meets the person in person, talk with him or her, and photograph the profile of the person with my favorite camera. She puts into her work not only the appearance of the person, but also the energy and atmosphere that she feels emanating from that person.
Facing 2,000 people, Oka's life's work is to create portraits of himself. Oka will be at the Osaka exhibition, welcoming orders for profile portraits.

While we often preserve our memories in photographs, having a self-portrait painted by an artist will be a lifetime memorial and memory. It will also surely be the one and only special self-portrait you will ever have in this world. During the last three days of the exhibition, we will be holding an order-taking session for portraits. Profile Portrait Order Taking May 6 (Fri.), 7 (Sat.), 8 (Sun.)
From approximately 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. each afternoon
Oka paints the profile on the left side. She paints a simple and colorful "profile" that we do not usually see with our own eyes.
It is Children's Day. How about a commemoration of your child's growth? Children and adults of all ages can enjoy this as a memory of their growth! Of course, it is wonderful as a memorial for yourself.
On the day of the order meeting, Oka-san herself will take a profile photo and create a picture, which will be delivered to you within 3-4 months.
