Akira Takayanagi

Chignitta's Art Gallery introduces the people and works of creators who believe in their own sensibilities and continue to create regardless of whether they are online or offline.

Akira Takayanagi is one of the artists I met online. I met him more than 10 years ago, but from the first time I saw him, the tiny world he created has always lived on the edge of my mind.When I started Chignitta, I had tea and talked with him for the first time in 10 years.

In the time we hadn't seen each other, he had given birth to a child, and while raising the child, he wakes up early in the morning and paints a picture every day before going to work. The finished work is always named with a friendly title and uploaded on Instagram.

It has become an important part of my daily routine to wake up in the morning and look at his works on my phone. It's always early in the morning when I exchange emails and messenger messages with him, and I love it when he says, "Good morning," "You're always up early," and "You too". There is no enthusiastic sales pitch other than Instagram, and when I ask for a profile, she just sends me a simple timeline. I'm sure that Mr. Takayanagi's modesty is far from something like online promotion, but I've always wanted to share his paintings with as many people as possible, and I'm very happy to be able to introduce them on this page.
